Walking along the lake front after the fireworks this past Wednesday evening, I came across a few committed folks doing some late night chess at the North Avenue Beach Chess Pavilion. While I am not much of a chess player, I think it is pretty damn cool that the Parks Department provides such a facility. I did a search on Google to find out more info on this place, but there is really very little out there other than a gazillion half assed reviews. If I remember correctly, the pavilion was on it’s last legs not that many years ago, and in recent years, was restored to it’s 1960s glory. Anyone know the story?
