Of all the things I will miss about Chicago once I have settled into New York next month, the “L” will be at or near the top of my list. New York has elevated trains running in the boroughs, and once did in Manhattan, but its not the same. Nothing says Chicago louder (literally) than the sound of an “L” train above your head while standing in the central business district. This shot is of the “L” tracks heading west from the Loop on Lake Street, it has to be one of the longest stretches of straight track anywhere.
