Looking for a quick (warm) place to make a phone call last weekend, we ended up in the lobby of the Palmer House Hilton. The lobby is about as opposite to my modernist leanings as you can get, but I have strong respect for the past, and this is a beautiful one. They are currently doing a major renovation to the lower levels, with some changes to the lobby (you can see construction evidence in the last image bottom right), so the normal cushy chairs and tables are in storage replaced by less cushy but more portable ones.
