Once in a while I stumble on something that is nothing less than a gold mine of photographic possiblities. Such was the case this past weekend when we decided to just go hang out in Edgewater. After a decent (and cheap) lunch at a hole in the wall taqueria, on Bryn Mawr and Broadway, I discovered this vestige of the past around the corner on Broadway. With a for rent sign in the window, this barber shop looks as though it closed in 1952, and has only collected dust since then. It reminds me of a photo my Father took, of me getting my first haircut in a place like this. What really struck me is the bright green color, and that it looks as though it would only take a good cleaning to ready the place to open again. I had challenges taking the shots through the window, doing my best to eliminate reflections, but a few got through. I also had many of my shots over exposed because of the sunshine. This is where it would be nice to learn more about my camera and how to work around these issues. This won’t be my last visit to this shop, I plan to go back and get more.
