Happy New Year! Today’s random selection is taken from a few of the 400+ images shot with my new D80. The first one was a moment in light as I was walking down Columbus Drive yesterday. I turned my head, and the light was just really interesting. The sun setting on the skyline along Randolph (simular to this image taken and posted last week). The Au Bon Pain window caught my eye as I was walking home last night. The holiday lights in front of 1 S Dearborn with Exelon Plaza in the rear. And finally, mega pixels. The LEDs behind the glass blocks of Crown Fountain are a really great way to understand what is happening inside the screen on your television, to create the picture. Red, green and blue “pixels” make up all of the colors necessary to transmit the image.
While the previous pics were about learning to use the new camera, the one below is strictly for documentation (meaning it isn’t a vey good pic, but the subject is worthy of showing.) This car can be seen perched on edge of the 17th level floor of the parking garage on west tower at Marina City. This is part of an ad campaign by Allstate based upon the Steve McQueen movie The Hunter from 1980. You can view the ad here.
