OK, before I get to the pictures today… As a follow up to last week’s excitement about having tipped off the Chicago Tribune about cameras mounted on the Crown Fountain towers, and ending up in articles on Tuesday and Wednesday. Well… Last Wednesday I was interviewed by, and quoted in an article on page A18 (national edition) in today’s New York Times; “A Tempest When Art Became Surveillance” (registration may be required). I submitted images at their request, signed a use agreement, but they went with the image from last weeks Tribune article instead. (As if being in the New York Times isn’t enough.)

Picking up from yesterday, I am posting a few more random images taken on my first day out with my new D80. The first one was shot from State and Monroe, capturing the reflection of the canopy lighting in the window. Next, these dumpsters were lined up in the alley, and they were all blue. Tower Records closed for the last time this past week. I grew up with Tower Records in their hometown of Sacramento. I have fond memories, but like everybody else, I stopped buying cd’s a few years ago.
The next shot was found while walking south on Wabash, the light reflecting off of the building, creating an eerie glow. Two Pru stands next to the taller Aon Building, as the sun shines, and the heavy clouds linger in the background. The last shot is of what I would guess to be a father and son, I would also guess they are waiting for mom, and possibly a sister to finish making their souvenir purchases, and get back outside.
