This week in randomness brings us everything from cranes over Grant Park to an extra eye being added to Crown Fountain.
First up; Construction is going along well at the site of the Modern Wing addition at the Art Institute. The two cranes aren’t so tall, but they certainly are far reaching.
Commuters crossing the Madison Street Bridge on a recent late morning. The light is a bit odd on this shot, the sun is shining from the south, but is also being bounced off of a nearby building lighting up the northern side of the bridge as well.
I included this shot of the Hotel Cass in River North for sentimental reasons. I stayed there on my first visit to Chicago back in October of 1998. The hotel has been closed for reno into a Holiday Inn Express. Perhaps it is because they never charged my room to my credit card?
While on a short walk to Millennium Park yesterday, Michael and I noticed the addition of a third eye to each of the two towers on Crown Fountain. Michael did a write up on his blog with a few more pics that I took. What the F*CK are they thinking by adding these cameras to the top of the fountains? Clearly they weren’t.
I wrap up today’s post with an image of the four towers which make up Presidential Towers in the West Loop as seen from Madison and Halsted. They almost look like sentinels from the west side. Which would have been fitting back in the 1980s when they were built.
