It’s time for a post full of random, and today it is all Loop. First up; it has been more than two years since they began renovation work at Federal Plaza began, and they are still not finished. This has made taking shots of the Calder more of a challenge. I am always trying to out do myself by taking more shots all the time. This one from this past Saturday, I like.
The CTA “restored” the Quincy Station more than a decade ago, and now it looks just as old and run down as it did before. This shot of the pediment on the exit stairs.
Towering over Block 37, this crane is perhaps the surest sign yet, that something is actually going to happen.
While on our way to the Art Institute to put our memberships to good use on Saturday, I caught this glimpse of the Plensa being backlit from a reflection of the afternoon sun.
The Insurance Exchange Building is one of those buildings you probably know more from the “L” than the ground. Located at the south west corner of the “L” tracks on Wells and Van Buren, it is easy to miss from the street. The shiny-ness of the panels between the windows along Wells St. caught my eye.
American Gothic is an image we have seen replicated on everything from tote bags to greeting cards. It is always nice to see it in person (even nicer when there isn’t a crowd around it) as I did this past Saturday. It seems that it is always on loan.
