This week’s randomness comes from shots taken over the past week. First up… This is the result of a car being catapulted from the 19th floor of Marina City’s West Tower yesterday in a re-creation of Steve McQueen’s movie The Hunter. I wasn’t there to capture the actual catapulting action, but Allstate Insurance was filming a commercial over the weekend, and sending a car sailing off of Marina City was one of the scenes they were filming. I have a close up of the car here.
Standing at State and Superior, I noticed the juxtaposition of these two steeples. The steeple of spirituality, and the steeple of commerce.
Cutting over to Michigan Avenue over the weekend, I was on E Hubbard near Wabash, when I saw these dual vents. Can’t quite explain why I had to photograph them, but then again, I don’t have to.
I have been a huge fan of taking shots down the street-wall of busy streets lately, and this is just another one. Wabash Avenue as seen from Wacker Drive. I think the tail lights looks as though they are descending into the depths of the city.
This yellow crane is one of the two cranes looming over the Trump project.
Since I am on the subject of cranes, I couldn’t help but notice the sun shining on the red crane, while the surroundings remained in shadow, on Block 37 last week.
There was only one guess to last weeks Where in the Loop is This? post. Unfortunately, it wasn’t right. This medallion of a merman can be found on the sw corner of the Columbia College building on Plymouth and Polk in Printers Row.
