The balconies at 208 and 212 W Washington have been the subject of many of my photos (including one of my earliest posts). I walk past them several times a week commuting to and from work. I am not a huge fan of balconies “tacked” on to loft conversions, but I am not as opposed as many others are either. I think that in the case of both of these buildings, they work. The make it very clear that these are adaptive reuse buildings, and that people live there.
When compared to most other tacked on balconies, these are quite ample in size.
I like that the color and shape is different on each of the two buildings (212 on the left, 208 on the right).
This angle was shot from a nearby parking garage.
These balconies can be found on the west side of 212, soaking in the sun.
Looking back at that early post, I can see how my skills have improved.
Be sure to check out WVallen’s Photomapping Project. For the month of September, he will be posting the location of my posts along with several other of his favorite photographers.
