Recently while up on the roof of Marina City for the Air and Water Show, I spent some time taking unrelated shots of the city itself. The day was relatively clear, and I was putting my zoom to the test. Today’s post is a selection of some of the better zoomed in shots. While I would have liked the clarity to be a bit better, I am still amazed by what I can see in these images.
I was taking a picture of the top of the Pittsfield Building, but it is the steel mills in Indiana that really amazed me.
This shot of the far north became more interesting when I realized I was looking at the skyline of Evanston (center), and then just to the right is the Bahai Temple.
Home Depot (center) is clearly seen along with the soon to be replaced North Avenue Bridge. Wrigley’s new Goose Island R&D Center is the “dome-ish” roof on the right center edge.
This shot of Cabrini Green turned out to be among my favorites of the day. The regularity of the red brick with the tan concrete structure has become the ubiquitous symbol of public housing. They remind me of my childhood Lego blocks.
