Since the launch of the new Looper at the end of June, I have pretty much kept to a Monday thru Friday posting schedule, ignoring the weekend. Now I know that my Saturday/Sunday readership is about 1/3rd of weekdays, so I thought maybe I should just put up one image for the weekend. This being a long weekend, I probably won’t post again until Tuesday, then again, you probably won’t read this until then either.
So for the image I chose… Often when walking home after work, I meander through the streets of the Loop, camera at the ready. But there are also plenty of days when I want to just walk home, or I have to be somewhere. The short route is directly down Washington Street (or is it Avenue?). I have taken countless pictures of the Loop from Washington Street, but this angle is a first. I took about eight shots of this scene, this being the best. What I like about it is that it captures that sense of the rush to get home. I also really like how the heat rising from the vehicles blurs the train above. This causes only the sides to be in focus, with the central portion a bit of a blur.
I don’t know if the “One for the Weekend” will stick around, but depending on the response, it may be back…. Have a great weekend!
Be sure to check out WVallen’s Photomapping Project. For the month of September, he will be posting the location of my posts along with several other of his favorite photographers.
