I hadn’t planned to continue on the changes going on at Macy’s today, but standing at my window last night, I noticed that (what has become) the trademark green lights on the front of the Marshall Fields Building are no longer green but white. Installed when Target remodeled the State Street store to the tune of 118 million dollars in 2003, the lights have become a part of the streetscape and can be seen from several different directions.
Before I get to the new look, here is what they looked like yesterday (photo from February).
And last night…
A closer shot reveals just how over-lit the new look is…
In this close up of the front entrance, you can see the new awnings with the Macy’s star.
The view of Block 37 is brighter now. Not sure how I feel about it.
Oh, and be sure to check out the WVallen’s Photomapping Project. For the month of September, he will be posting the location of my posts along with several other of his favorite photographers. One of my images from each post will be mapped.
