While going through and “cleaning up” the organization of my online images at Flickr, I came across a few images I had intended to post a few months ago after returning from my last trip to NYC. These shots came from the first evening of my trip in April. My best friend lives in Brooklyn Heights, only two blocks from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade (or Esplanade to some), of all this amazing things about his neighborhood there is to love, this is perhaps the thing I am most envious of.
The Staten Island Ferry scooting its way across the water on its way to Manhattan, Ellis Island is in the background. Given the distance and available light, I was surprised this came out as well as it did. (This is the best of a few shots.)
Another shot that was a challenge. I think I took this shot more than ten times, before I got this one. Its times like this when I am amazed by the zoom on my camera, but challenged by my skill.
The sun is setting behind the southernmost tip of Manhattan creating a silhouette of the skyline.
The Statue of Liberty in the distance gives a good point of reference for the previous close up.
