Today’s random fun was selected from shots taken over the past week.
Over the weekend, I had a Zip Car for a few hours, and did some catching up on visiting neighborhoods I haven’t been to for a long time. The vantage point at Montrose Harbor is a place I haven’t been for a few years. This is perhaps the best view of the skyline from land.
The still under construction 1620 S Michigan, shows off the construction materials through it’s glorious floor to ceiling windows. Drapery will be high on the list of things to get done first for the new home owners, I am sure.
Next door to the previous shot is this warehouse containing Mortimer Forwarding Co. (What the heck does a “Forwarding Co” forward?) I love its split driveways. One up and one down.
The Henry B.Clarke House is the oldest surviving home in Chicago. Completed in 1836, it has had several addresses over the years since being moved to its current site at 1855 S Indiana.
The last two today are purely snapshots. I was looking out my window on Thursday and noticed that the construction work on Block 37 has involved breaking through the pedway connecting the Red and Blue Lines. Construction continues to wake me up each morning at 6:30 (which is when I should be getting up anyway) which is a good sign for the future of the troubled site. They announced last week that they are on schedule for a completion of the office tower by fall of 2008; I don’t know how they are going to pull it off. (EDIT: Thanks Chicagoist for the link back!)
Close up shot of the pedway. Isn’t this about the location of where the blind man played the electric piano each morning? I wonder where he moved to.

Well the office tower isn’t really that big at all. The interiors would probably be the most complicated part, especially the CBS studio.
