Last Night I was at the Taste of Chicago for only the second time in my seven years of living here. (Hmmm… I just realized, It was seven years ago today in fact that I pulled into town after five days on the road.) I will be honest with you, I don’t get the Taste, It just doesn’t seem like a lot of fun. I went last year for the first time, and got one good thing out of it… A few cool photos of the Ferris wheel. Well, last nights visit was for more of the same, with the intention of being better.
The Taste is over for the night at 9:00, and it doesn’t begin to get dark until only a few minutes before that. The lights on the Ferris wheel came on at about 8:45, so I didn’t have a lot of time to get a lot of shots.
In this shot, I had the camera set up to take a 2 second shot, after a 2 second time delay to minimize vibration. Just after I released the shutter, the operator stopped the ride. I caught the last moment of movement.
The street light created a glow in the upper corner. I could have Photoshopped it out, but I kinda like it.
[EDIT- Yes, I know about the photo spread by Roger Vail in the Life Magazine insert in the Trib a couple weeks back (06/23/06). That only served as motivation to get myself out there and try it out. >D< ]
